Bookish links I enjoyed this past week #15

I am a serial reader and love non-fiction articles. For me to find it again and for you to enjoy, I’ll share it here weekly.

1) I can travel the world visiting libraries… This is an article about residency programs for writers at 10 libraries around the world. What a great concept. http://www.aerogrammestudio.com/2014/07/10/library-fellowships-for-writers/

2) Short Story competitions for 2014. this is so late! But I want to remember this for 2015. http://www.aerogrammestudio.com/2014/01/31/14-short-story-competitions-in-2014/
3) Word counts and Novel lengths on The Swivet. I had an assignment the week before last about a synopsis for a novel. In my research locally the length of novels in crime fiction differs from what the text book says. This article as many others seem to be the same as the text book but the bookshelves seem to be different. http://theswivet.blogspot.com/2008/03/on-word-counts-and-novel-length.html
4) Writes Digest has this great article on the word count for novels and children’s books. http://www.writersdigest.com/editor-blogs/guide-to-literary-agents/word-count-for-novels-and-childrens-books-the-definitive-post
5) A tribute to Nadine Gordimer earlier this year. I’ve never read any of her work until her death. Here are links to some of her work. http://www.newyorker.com/books/double-take/nadine-gordimer-in-the-new-yorker
That’s all from me this week. Enjoy it!
